Message from the Vice Principal
Ms. Vithika Rahul
I am a very proud member of the Excelsior community. As the Vice Principal, I welcome you heartily.
I believe education involves not just learning but also unlearning and relearning. Only when we help students develop their capacity for logical thought, responsible behaviour, and effective communication in a variety of circumstances will this process of learning and relearning be viable. The importance of a well-rounded education that goes beyond learning to read, write, and do arithmetic is something that every parent is aware of. True education is universally considered to have as its goal the enhancement of living quality, and this is where the search for a good school begins. A good school is more than just a structure or a library of books; it is a place where we grow intellectually, acquire crucial life skills and form relationships that last a lifetime.
We at Excelsior American School understand this need and strongly advocate self-inspired learning, which fosters in children a strong sense of self-worth and responsibility and equips them to live, work, and contribute to a global community. For children to learn optimally and to develop socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, there must be freedom of thought and a supportive environment where they can speak their minds without fear or resistance. We have an excellent team of educators who are committed and dedicated to guiding our students in accomplishing these goals. We believe education should not be limited to the classroom, so we encourage our students to do excursions, picnics, and participate in other activities that will provide them with hands-on experience. Our strength lies in an inquiry-based, holistic, and student-centred approach to teaching and learning.
As Socrates says, “Education is the kindling of fire, not the filling of vessels.” Education is not the mere giving of information. It should invoke curiosity and keenness in children. Children should feel inspired to learn new knowledge and ideas, not just as children but also throughout their lives. This goes well with our mission, as we believe that learning is a lifelong process that builds strong character, knowledge, and open-minded learners. I look forward to an exciting year ahead and to working together to achieve our shared goals. Thank you for choosing our school, and I wish you all the very best for a successful and rewarding academic year.
