Children face many challenges since the day they are introduced into the modern real world. But as they go through life, developing social skills and interacting with the world around them will always be a critical part of their success, happiness and their ability to become a productive part of a modern society. Some kids are naturally more socially adept than others.

There was a time when August 15 was an exceptional day. Waking up early and preparing ourselves for the flag hoisting ceremony used to fill our hearts with enthusiasm on a different level. From playing patriotic songs to talking about freedom struggles, the fervour of patriotism would ignite everywhere; in schools to peers and amongst students.

The neat and clean uniform, new books and subjects, and of course, my friends and teachers! It’s like a home away from home! Here, the teachers are like parents, who help students grow and friends are like siblings who constantly test and motivate one another.

Time is like water, the more you try to hold it in your hands, the more it flows away. Wasting our time, or using it effectively, is in our hands. But once we lose the time we had, it becomes impossible to bring it back. Making the best out of our time must be our prerogative so we may be better versions of ourselves tomorrow!

Summer vacations may be a chance to take a break from school, but it doesn’t mean that learning fun doesn’t have to stop! Did you know that school students that read more are more likely to score higher on tests like the SAT and ACT Exams? You will have to give those soon enough! Plus, novels and books included on summer reading lists can give you some major historical and social context for certain courses! You’d be prepared for the next class without even knowing it! Just like exercising keeps muscles in shape, reading is what you need to keep the brain in shape. Though yes, literary classics are extremely vital to developing written and verbal skills, your favourite contemporary novels can provide just as much help and influence in improving your reading ability!

For most Excelsiorites, summer marks a clear change of rhythm! Whether it’s travelling or just kicking back and relaxing, this is the time for students to have fun! During the holidays, whether it is parents or students, we all are SO much more relaxed. This gives us (and especially students) the freedom to be creative and focus on activities and habits that make us better versions of ourselves.
